  • Sound recording for Feature Film

    Hi Everybody,

I will soon edit a feature film that will be shot on the 7D.
Now, I am asked which way the sound should be handled.
I never edited a film with that kind of material before. I heard, there has to be an electronic time code indicating slate, recorded seperatly e.g. on DAT and afterwards put sync manually.
As this is a feature film, it will be tons of clips and a lot of work just to reconnect and line up Video and Audio.
Is there any other solution how to handle Audio with the 7D?

    Thanx for any advice.

    Sascha

Yes, there is: PluralEyes by Singular Software. You just need a decent sound from the D7 as well and it will match your external recording. Works very well for us with FCP, but the Premiere version is still in beta.

Yes, I just read about it. I also work on FCP.
How fast does it work? I do a feature film and probably have to sync up more than 1000 Clips.

Depends very much on preparation. If you line up the clips in the right sequence it’s much faster than if it needs to sort them out (which it does pretty well, if necessary).

Just give it a try, there’s a fully functional time-limited tryout.
