    Hey, I have read through the guides for DaVicni ResolveMacConfigGuide. I have the Mid 2010, Two 2.4GHz Quad Core and it comes standard with 6 gigs of RAM.

    My biggest problem is that I need to multipurpose this workstation and need as much memory as possible. I want to buy 8GB 1066 Sticks to make a clean upgrade path to 64GB or RAM.

    Can I only have 24 GB or MEMORY?? and thats all, thats the MAX amount of RAM and the only quantity I can have?

    Thanks. Would love to hear peoples RAM configurations.

    Thanks.

    While I think that 24 or 32 should be fine, I don’t believe 64 would be a problem. While some sources claim that amounts divisible by three should perform better, I found the difference negligible.

    Symmetrical sticks in the parallel slots are important, though, or you give up a lot of speed.

    Interesting thread.

    What memory are you going for? Over priced from AppleStore? Cheaper from MacSales? Even cheaper from Kingston or Crucial ?

    OWC seesm to be recommended repeatedly for the US.

    No personal experience, since I’m located in Germany.

    Interesting find. The Crucial memory is about the same price as those from OWC, and the Crucial memory is available in the store down the street vs. ordering online and wait for ages for a foreign shipment to arrive.. hmm….. I sense 16GB RAM coming my way after the next wave of jobs.

    I notice they don’t have heatsinks on the memory (at least in the photos) – is that true? Maybe Apple just wants us to buy a $200 set of heatsinks for inexpensive memory, and that’s why the AppleStore prices are so… crazy.. (-;
