I was wondering the same thing this morning. What’s a free way to clean up atifacts?

I made an animated flag using particular. The techinique is a little complicated to explain at the moment but it looked pretty decent. I’ll post a quick animation and the project file when I get off of work. All you’ll have to do is throw your flag image into a comp. There’s a control set up for the windspeed. Greater wind speed causes more flapping. And it’s entirely 3D.

Can masks pick up that tracking data like that? I’m thinking it would treat the tracking info as vertices for the mask. If that doesn’t work, I’d put the mask on a white solid and apply the tracking info to it’s position. Then use this as a matte.

You could apply the motion tracking to a null object then set an expression to the lights position layer. Just pickwhip the position to nulls position.

Why isn’t this a hardware problem? If it’s happening in other apps then I would think it would have to be. Have you tried a different keyboard?

When I started promo’s for the station here ND all they had was Motion as well. I did some pretty cool things with it that got a me some fantastic recognition from the head manager but I can’t tell you how relieved I was to get AE7 here. Motion was great for doing complicated stuff quickly but as soon as you really wanted to push it to the limits it was nothing but troubles. I find the ‘user friendly automation’ programmed into the system screwed me over far more than it helped. I came across many strange things that it was doing with no understanding of why it was doing it.

Yep, setting the viscosity will adjust where you want the explosion to freeze. You’ll also want to keyframe the gravity so that the pieces won’t continue to fall after they stop exploding outwards. Then you can spin your camara freely.

To reassemble duplicate the layer and do a time reverse.

I’m curious, wouldn’t the same effect be made by simply keeping the layer 2D and placing it above all your 3D material or are there other factors such as lighting that come into play?

Sweet. I just watched the premiere of Afro Samari with Mr. Sam Jackson. They used the ink blot (well blood) effect in it’s Opening Theme. Very cool, thanks.

I remember reading that there was another solution to having to scale your image. Anyone know what that was?
