Create a null (3d). Make all your logo layers 3d. Link all to Null. Move all in z space forward. Offset by rotating on Y axis. Rotate null on Y axis = logos rotate in 3d space. It’s now a matter to figure if the z offset of the logos from the center Null is enough to make the logos rotate on an orbit that is bigger than the sphere.

You have a box that does a 3d move and you’re trying to ad a plane that rotates in 3d space using 2d tracking… I see a problem there, unless you’re using a 3d tracker. However, if you are the one animating the box, this should be easy. Apply the same rotation to a null that has the same distance from the camera as the center of your box in the 3d app you’re using and link the layer (make it 3d) of the GUI to it, offsetting so that it seems outside the box. Use masks to give the impression the GUI goes behind the box and you should be set.

Best way to do this is to do a 3d camera track using Boujou or Syntheyes, export the camera data to AE and use that camera (with settings as close as possible to the camera that shot the golf course) to shoot text positioned in 3d space to match the plane of the grass.
You can also try to use mocha, but I’m not sure that planar tracking will solve this.

yep- post a frame or the footage lo rez and we may be able to give more advice. Depending on how big the shadow is, how fast it moves and the complexity of the background there may be several things you can do.

Make sure you check the Audio to be rendered in the output module.

  • How about using an old linear wipe with a lot of feathering?

June 12, 2010 at 6:02 am in reply to: Light wrap with Keylight

Your alpha is generated by the keylight plugin. In order to do the light wrap you need to precomp the layer with the green screen WITH the keylight in it (move all attributes). This way you get layer with alpha and you can do a light wrap on it. Another solution is to render out just the layer with the key on making sure you export using an uncompressed codec like animation or a sequence of files tga or tiff, all supporting alpha channel.

June 12, 2010 at 5:51 am in reply to: Spot removal on shirt – live video

One trick that always worked for me is to duplicate your layer, roto a mask around the area of the tape and animate that mask (this way you poke a whole on your top layer), then offsett the bottom layer to replace the shirt area with the tape with one next to it that has no tape. This way you get the same texture, lighting and movement. Of course you’ll have to play with finding the right area and feathering the mask.

I used multiple instances of Knoll Lens Flare- the Arc Welder preset with just the basic elements (no rings and such), and I animated the size (you can also use an expression)

June 11, 2010 at 5:42 am in reply to: applying vfx on .mpeg

As Dave mentions in his stock answer #1 (look for that in this forum) it is best to convert any compressed file to an uncompressed format before applying fx in AE, the reason being that compressed files do not have all the information in each frame of the footage and that can cause a bunch of problems. So- sorry, I do not think you can skip that step.
