I would shoot a real hologram sticker using similar lighting conditions like in the AE project and use that as a reference.
Holograms reveal depth as you move around them, so it may just be a matter of creating a 3d (or 2.5d) comp that contains the image in the hologram and shoot that with a a camera moving from one side to the other (in AE) then use that as the base for the sticker, add a light sweep and some chroma distortion.

Underwater – use red instead of green or blue- that’s what a lot of studios that have an underwater setup use.

AE is not an encoding program Adobe Media Encoder is meant to do just that- encode, so it will do a much faster and better job than AE.

sorry, no plugins to replace hard work… that’s the only way to get results that are out of the ordinary.

Like Todd suggested, I think that there’s a combination of things. The sharp graphics are probably vector gfx designed in AI or the like. There can be a certain amount of distortion applied in AE – use the Mesh Warp, that can produce some of the same fluid movement within the graphics. Also, Matte choker can be used to make the letters skinnier.
All in all it takes a lot of good planning, storyboarding and research to be able to figure out what you want to do exactly, and then find the right tools to do it.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

I may be wrong, but I think that if you have an animation mov and you just replace the audio in AE and render out agai to Animation at 100% you will not re-compress the video but just replace the audio… Todd?!?

No roto brush like, but like Todd said if you show us what you’re trying to do other options may be available. Straight roto, luma/difference mattes and so on…

Yep- don’t! I mean do not render a file compressed for DVD out of AE- never! Render to a lossless (animation, png..) or intermediate (Apple ProRes) codec and then use something like Adobe Media Encoder or Encore to finish your DVD (render to mpeg2…)

You could try to shoot chroma and then animate in AE, but that would never give you the realistic feeling a live action stunt has. And then you would have to light match, composite and so on. Best bet is to do the rope pull and then remove the rope- a lot easier and much better looking.
