Wow, sounds like a great system. I’ll keep that in mind. Sooo it performs well in AE, we’ve got that nailed down, but do you run any 3D apps, C4D, MAX, Maya? Mainly C4D is what I need it for of the three. I’m going to try to keep this machine dedicated for the more system intensive tasks, and leave other things like web projects for my older machine. I am still just wondering what the buzz is about the Quadro, some people rave and others, like you, speak of great performance on less expensive cards. Take care,

Hey Taylor I have a similar problem. I am trying to take old transcodes into CS4, because I agree it is a gigantic waste of time to re-transcode the same files like this. Did you figure out a way to make it work? I have already transferred the old transcodes to the sources folder. Thanks a lot

I Came back from a long weekend, and everything seems to be fine now that the machine was powered down for several days. Funny how these things work. Thanks so much though!

I did this very same effect for an architectural firm, and it came out beautifully.
First you need to make sure you have the correct path for your pencil to draw on. Once you have the desired path as a spline put the axis of your pencil at the very tip and use the align to spline tag, and animate the pencil going along the path. Render with alpha and bring into your compositing app of choice, I used After Effects. In AE you could bring in the drawing (after you’ve stroked it in Illustrator, or rendered a bitmap or AE compatible file) and make sure that your rendered pencil and drawing line up. Make a mask on the drawing layer with the pen tool, and add a new point fairly often and roughly draw a path over the drawing (if you were able to copy and paste the path from Illustrator, as a mask to AE it would save time). Then add effect>generate>stroke to the drawing layer and set paint style to reveal original, and keyframe according to pencil position. This process can be lengthy but it is a nice effect, I just posted an early low-res render to youtube if it helps.

Also instead of using stroke you can use Write On for a similar result. Let me know how it goes,

You also could create something similar by the following:
-create circle for outer edge
-copy and scale in slightly
-use the connect function to make one spline
-duplicate the connected spline, scale outer edge down, and inner edge up
-move up on y axis
-group under loftNurbsIt’s good to have multiple approaches to the same model in case you run into problems.

April 22, 2009 at 7:34 pm in reply to: Creating Sound “bars” using soundkeys for layer’s Y scaleThank you very much Kevin, but how could i make it so the changes did not so drastically affect the y scale? So the fluctuation was not so extreme? Thanks again!

Have you moved the AE plug from C4D ExchangePlugins director into your AE plugs directory? That will allow you to read and import the .aec file cinema will generate with your render. Let me know how you make out.

Thanks for your help, I have Cinema 4D and the thinking particles module. I am, in general an decently experienced C4D user. Would you suggest I use thinking particles or just an ordinary emitter?
I also own Trapcode Particular, but I am fairly inexperienced with it, but I figured it would be another good method to try out. Any tips for doing it with particular? Thanks so much again!

You have to render the entire project using multi pass or else it will be useless. Where was the exact folder that you copied the plugin to?
