Activity Forums Adobe After Effects C4D to AE

Hey all, i’m relatively new to AE, but i’m a decently long time C4D user. I’m excited about the possibilities in the integreation between AE and C4D but i’m having some difficulties. When I save out a AE file, in this case, an .aec, after effects doesn’t recognize it. I think this is siply an AE comp, but it doesn’t make any sense. Especially because a tutorial for C4D R9.6 shows after effects importing an .aec no sweat. Any suggestions?

Do you have the plugin installed? If not, look inside the exchange plugins folder in the cinema4d directory and move or copy the plugin into the after effects plugins folder

Trevor I am having the same problem. I have already installed the 6.5 Mac Pluggin from C4d into the Plugins folder of AE CS3. I have restarted AE. And AE will still not recognize the .aec file. also when you created your .aec file did you render the entire project or did you click the save button next to the after effects compositing option under the Save menu in the Render Settings. (C4D). What version of the plugin from the C4D extensions did you install and what are you running?

You have to render the entire project using multi pass or else it will be useless. Where was the exact folder that you copied the plugin to?
