    Hello,

I’m trying to relink assets in Encore, but it doesn’t seem to be going so well.

I have moved some files around in my cleaning efforts and when I open the project it asks me to find the assets. I show it where they are, it acts like it is linking them up, but it says they’re offline still. When I revert them to original they work fine, but then I have to transcode them again, and when you’re putting 2 and a half hours of stuff on a DVD that is a huge waste of time.

How do I relink these already transcoded files?

    Thanks,
    Taylor

Try pointing Encore to the transcoded version of the file, which is in the SourcesTranscodes folder for your current project.

It won’t let me, it says it is not the same type of file.

Then you’ll need to point Encore to the untranscoded version and re-transcode.

That is what I’m trying to avoid. This seems like a fairly large flaw for there to not be a solution to.

Just a thought – did you undo your Revert to Original before you tried to re-link to the transcoded version? That may be why it didn’t work.

Is it too late to undo? Do you have any previous versions of the project that you can roll back to?

I think I tried that without success, but I’m out of the office now so I’ll try it again tomorrow.

    Thanks for the help.

Hey Taylor I have a similar problem. I am trying to take old transcodes into CS4, because I agree it is a gigantic waste of time to re-transcode the same files like this. Did you figure out a way to make it work? I have already transferred the old transcodes to the sources folder. Thanks a lot
