thanks for this suggestion. I’ve been trying H.264 and it’s working pretty good. I’m going to try your idea next.

    Hi Michael,
I sent you a bin. My name will come up as Chad Everett but I’m not actually the 70’s TV star. Long story.
    Thanks man,
    Trev.

    Hi Michael,

First I must say thank you for being so helpful. It’s making a big difference.

It’s an older Avid, MC3.5 and the EDL Manager is 23.6.0.

I’ve tried all the different TC’s ie start, vitc etc.
I’ve tried all the different tape ID’s ie. sound roll etc.

The only thing that works is modifying the clips source (actually giving the clip tape name because it start with no tape name) but you can only modify the tape name when you unlink the clip. Then once you give it a tape name it won’t relink to the the media. A bit of a Catch 22.

If only I could modify the clips tape name without unlinking the clip.

If you have any more ideas I’d love to hear them. If not, no worries. You would not believe how helpful you have been in terms of setting up the project and getting proper EDL’s out.

    Thanks man,
    Trevor Ambrose

    Hey Michael,
I’m trying your Iphone idea and I think that will work great. I’m not making playable DVD’s. I just want to make a quicktime that will fit on a DVD (using it as a storage device not as a playable DVD).
    Thanks for your help,
    Trev.
