    Hi Guys,
    Fairly simple question.

I’m exporting a quicktime of a half hour TV episode for the online editor.
    I’m using Sorenson Squeeze.

It becomes a 5.6 gig file which is too big to put on a DVD.

What’s the simple way to make the quicktime small enough yet with a decent quality?

    Any help would be appreciated.

What compression settings are you usning? What size? What frame rate? I did a 90 minute feature with iPhone settings and ended up being 500MB.

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for your response.

Here are the particulars of my show.
It’s shot on film at 24fps.
    I have digged into a 23.97p 35mm 4 perf project.
    My timeline is 30 nd.
I’m exporting with a sorenson squeeze for DVD.

It’s an old Avid 3.5 and they had not invented an Iphone yet.
Any old compressions you can think of?

    Take care,
    Trevor

If it’s for DVD you don’t have much of a choice but MPEG2. Have you tried that? Even with a constant bit rate, a 30 minute show should fit on a disc.

    Hey Michael,
I’m trying your Iphone idea and I think that will work great. I’m not making playable DVD’s. I just want to make a quicktime that will fit on a DVD (using it as a storage device not as a playable DVD).
    Thanks for your help,
    Trev.

Try using the H.264 QuickTime codec when you export directly out of the Avid. It’s been a while but I think in 3.5 that was an option
