Hey Devrim! Thanks for this. I’m going to get the 1st AE to do a back-up of all media. Great advise! Trevor

Mads to the rescue once again! Thanks Mads. I appreciate your time and knowledge. I’m on a Avid on a Mac Studio with a M1 Max chip and 32 gig of ram. I’ve decided to go with the T9. It’s inexpensive fast and portable. One project, one drive kind of thing. Have a good one! 🙂

Ok Mads. Once more, a really great answer. I’m going to speak to the Assistant Editor on the show and see what kind of storage they needed last season. Then if it’s not too much of a bother for you I’ll pick your brain again.

    Thanks so much! 🙂

It’s all good now. I didn’t have enough space on my Mac HD to it kept crashing. Duh. Thanks for your help!

  • I hear you Eric. I’ve been working on my 2010 cheese grater with a dongle for years and I’m now entering the current world of Mac Studio and subscriptions. It’s nice and quiet. 🙂

Have a good one and thanks again for your help!

  • Hi Eric,

Thanks! This chart it very helpful. The one thing I’m confused about is this:

Since a new Avid is good on 3 OS’s (Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura), why wouldn’t everyone just choose the lastest (Big Sur). Is one OS more stable than another? Is one OS bumpy? Basically, why would you want one over another?

Thanks dude. You’re awesome! 🙂 Okay. I’m certainly not doing that type of multi-cam-ing!

Wow. That’s a really illuminating spreadsheet. When you say multi-cam workflow, what do you mean? I’m used to working on TV and Film with all shots multi cam-ed with A and B cams, sometimes with C cams too. Or are you talking about an even more robust usage of multi-cam. The thing is, I’m about to start a show and I had to get the M1 max without any upgrading, as in bumping 32 to 64. Otherwise I wouldn’t get the Mac in time. I realize I might be over-staying my welcome and my many questions
might be getting tedious so no worries if you want to end this thread. If so, take care and thank you so much for the help you have given. 🙂
