My first thought is keyframing the hell out of the liquify tool and getting it to resememble that flowing liquid-ish look. And then add some blur and I think you could probably have it.
Just a lot of trial and error getting it to look the way you want.

If all else fails that usually fixes the matter.

If you are really set on using Particular for the effect… im sure you could make a comp that is really wide, and really thin… like 2000×200 and animate the particles to be flowing in a right to left way.
Get them the way you want them to look, and then you could precomp that and use the puppet tool (if you have CS3 only) and and you put the pins in the path that you wanted the particles to follow.
I got the idea from one of Aaron Rabinowitz’s tutorials on using the puppet tool with particles here:
https://cowcast.creativecow.net/podcast/using-the-puppet-tool-with–18
Watch that and you can probably get a better idea of what i am talking about.
Good Luck!

January 25, 2008 at 4:46 pm in reply to: Frozen bullet during a live-action camera moveSo basically like the scene from Superman returns with the bullet in the eye… just the bullet is frozen in time…
If you have Zaxwerks Invigorator pro you could create a bullet in that and then position it to where you need to and add the rest of your elements… if you are dollying around the object… there isn’t any way I know of doing it with still image. You are probably going to have to use some kind of 3D element.

I only have Invigorator, but the way I would do it is to chop the animations right when the form the combined logo, and then create another animation in one layer that is lined up perfectly with the two previous animations, and the apply your spin to that.
animation 1
———————- combined final animation
animation 2 —————————————
———————-And you would apply the spin to the combined final animation…
Maybe that makes it easier to see what I’m talking about

Hmmm… you wouldn’t happen to have any adjustment layers with any effects that would make it do that, over your layer that has the CC Burn Film effect applied to it do you?
That is the only thing that I could think would be wrong…

You could just enable time remapping and then create hold keyframes for the frames you want it to show….

Yeah, I tried that, and it didnt’ work, but I realized that i was using just the IMAGE as the layer map…
I tried precomping the .psd layer and applying that as the layer map and it actually worked…
But thanks for the Reply!
