Yeah it sounds like a quicktime 7.4 issue…
7.4.1 just came out… you can get it here:
https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
But as all new updates… you never know… I’m sure someone on the COW has a link to an older version of quicktime…

Well I was looking in Invigorator, and if you hit the little question mark in the middle of the scene window, a box pops up and at the bottom it says for one of the shortcuts “cntrl+S saves a scene”
I know that you can open scenes in PA but for some reason the shortcut wasn’t working for me in Invigorator… but try that out, and let me know if it works.

February 6, 2008 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Any suggestions on accomplishing this effect. The first thing that comes to my mind would be keying out the footage and then looking at the comp from the TOP view, arrange them in a circle (in 3D space of course) and then use a null to control the rotation with an expression.
This is probably the part where I would post what the expression would look like to animate it… haha I don’t know expressions for s**t. There might be an expression slider control to help you with it.
Then to make the actors play at the right time you could time remap to make them stay still until they pop up in the front.
thats my two cents… theres probably a better way, but that is how I would set it up.

[Darby Edelen] “To clarify, you should never color correct anything before your key. Only color correct after you have a satisfactory key.”
Is this the case even if you has unsatisfactory lighting and not-as-great-as-it-could-be green screen in the background? I would think that if you color corrected, you might be able to generate a better key…
Sorry for the false information Darby, just trying to help… but thats why were on this board right? to learn…
Thanks for the info though!

Well for starters you can probably mask out the desk so that doesn’t get touched, that is only if you are using a tripod and the camera is steady.
as for the shadows underneath the ears… I would color correct the shot, and then I would just fool around with the clip black and clip white settings in Keylight until you get the desired result.

[Ari Grunzeweig] “Firstly, is this creating actual 3d? When I orbit my camera, the ‘invigorated’ objects all seem flat.” Yes, yes it is true 3D… there is 2 ways to work with the camera… the first is to make sure you check “use comp camera” and then make a new camera in your timeline, and then you can use the camera in AE. The second way is to just animate the parameters in the Invogorator layer’s effects panel.
It is wierd how if you have the 3D switch checked it makes it flat if you rotate, but just remember you should never check the Invigorator layers switch to 3D because it is already acting 3D inside itself (does that make sense?)
[Ari Grunzeweig] “Secondly, should my layers on my timeline be 2d or 3d layers?”If you want to animate other layers along with the Invigorator layer in 3D space, make sure you have “use comp camera” checked in the Invigorator’s effects panel, and all the other layers should be 3D, but the Invigorator layer will be not checked 3D, but it will still act 3D.
I hope this helps… and for other Invigorator training, check out John Dickinsons free tutorials at http://www.motionworks.com.au

Well, I am actually in the Seattle area, and I don’t know how advanced you are looking to go, but if you want we could exchange emails, and maybe figure something out.

Well since you have CS3 I would say that the puppet tool would be the best way to go, just build your background in photoshop as a long picture, and keyframe the position to scroll from left to right.
Just google puppet tool CS3 or I think there is a tutorial here on the COW somewhere….

February 1, 2008 at 4:46 pm in reply to: Butterfly scrolling environment (Help needed :))I think the best way to go about it is create your background in Photoshop… and make it LONG. Then make your animation, which im guessing is the butterfly, and whatever other elements that will appear in the foreground. Then just have the background picture position scroll from left to right for your 3 minutes…
And walla there you go.
This is a pretty basic explanation, let me know if you had any other questions and wanted to delve in deeper.
