  • Check out sync-n-link from intelligentassistance/assisted editing. If you have TC on your media this is a massive time saver.

Everything was in sync before moving to DaVinci 10. Also, it’s just the chase audio that is out of sync. As a test, I conformed the reference movie to true 24fps then extracted the audio from it and used that audio as the chase audio. Audio stays in sync now. So it appears to be some sort of bug with monitoring at 23.976 and chase audio.

We use the Panny, with a probe and the Davio. A bit costly but there is no LCD monitor that compares IMO. New Panny will be even better.

Things are changing a little bit now that Cinespace is owned by THX but here is what I have been told and how things have generally been working up to now. With Davio you decide on which libraries you want to buy, there’s a wide array depending on your needs, including Stereoscopic 3D tools. With the purchase you get a limited version of Cinespace that allows for target profiles of NTSC, PAL, HD and P3. You can add the full version for film profiling etc. The one catch to all of this is that you need a probe. X-Rite Hubble, Klein, Konica-Minolta et al. The Davio is very versatile product, check out all the specs on their site. Support at Cinetal is incredible, well informed and accessible. Documentation and Pre-sales-not so much. Ideally you get a demo unit and try it out.

We’ve got the Panny 20 series and the Cinetal Davio. Particularly if you need to work outside of Rec.709 it’s a great solution.

I thought it was a bad idea to update blackmagic drivers…updates are part of DaVinci versions only.

Tried all RED decode settings. Panasonic 20 series plasma with dual link HDSDI. Monitoring SDI 422 since mastering format is HDCAM SR 422. I have not tried viewing as 444.

When you say remove all black, slugs etc, do you mean that I should ripple edit them out, leaving no gaps at all between the clips. That’s the way I read it. Let me know.

Ok, I will give that a try. Any thoughts on why my conform would have gaps where the EDL clearly indicates clips.
