Actually there there are indeed retiming software applications which emulate 120 fps. The camera head itself is not capable of shooting 120 discrete frames.

On the Panasonic Technical Instructions Varicam 27F DVD there is a demonstration of one application called “Raze” (I think I got the spelling on the name right) which did the 120 frame emulation.

There are other applications available just do a search on google.

They already have with the 1500 model which is not a camcorder, outputs via the CCU can be 720 or 1080 and the head can do 60P.

I doubt Sony will have a 720P camcorder soon as they have defined 1080 as their HD standard whereas Panasonic has currently set 720P as their HD standard for progressive.

For cable tv the five grand figure is typical.

You should have done your marketing first and found a distribution outlet first before spending so much time, money and effort on the project.

You no longer have much leverage as the distribution outlet has the upper hand in that you need them more than they need you. It’s basically a take it or leave it scenario.

You will not recover your production cost selling the show to one outlet instead you have to find multiple outlets to recover your investment.

There is a menu to turn on or off the menus via one of the HDSDI outputs.

This is often called a clean feed versus a dirty feed (which has menus or other information over the primary video).

Look in the menu section of the manual to find the specific menu setting for turning on the menus.

It sound like you are dealing with footage which has already been letterboxed.

If you want the image to appear full screen on a 4×3 monitor you can do a center cut from the letterboxed footage.

If you want it to be full screen on a 16×9 monitor you need the original anamorphic footage.

You are using the wrong tool for the wrong application. Using FCP is an awkward method for your shooting applications.

What you need is a portable composite field waveform/vectorscope.

Use the composite outputs of the camera and hook it up to the waveform monitor.

You will see luminance and chroma levels in real time.

You have to set the vtr menus to output dvcpro 50 via firewire as well as have the proper FCP capture settings for vtr control and capture. If the two are mismatched you will have a problem.

It’s all in the manual under the menu settings or you could request the rental house set up the vtr for you.

    You answered your own question.

Your sequence setting is set to RGB but you are outputting to beta which is YRB.

Your problem is you have an selected RGB which is incorrect for your output.

    Hmm,

Why not enter a Nascar race and bypass having a qualified pit crew to support the driver?

If you don’t plan then you only plan to fail. A generic card file settings has little to do with your specific job details and/or requirements.

Hire yourself a qualified video engineer to assist the DP and yourself on the job.

The 14L5/1 is a multiformat monitor and does display 1080 24psf as well as 720/60P.

The monitors which have a label the multi format label on the front face generally indicate they can do 24P.
