Please be the first one to buy this stuff for us all.
Then let us know 1) if it even arrives, 2) works as advertised 3) has any local service center where you can get a quick turnaround.
We are all dying to hear both positive or negative experiences you will have with this new unproven company and technology.
Thanks,
Tony

What could this mean in the long run?
SDX prices drops and then we are told the product is being phased out.
Varicam drops pricing while HDX 900 is being released.
Simple math might predict something will be replacing the current model of the Varicam in the near future.

Pat,
Read the specific spec online at the Panasonic website.
Download the HDX-900 brochure where you find the info.

No don’t duplicate or copy this effect instead be original.
Shoot 35mm film and then apply a filter to downgrade it to make it crappy DV like.
Now that’s an effect no one has been using regularly so be the first one to start a trend.

All the variable you describe are working against you and the results will show it.
Try making the job easier and consider shooting your subject on a chroma key backdrop and shoot the sun plate later. Combine the two together later in post.
Some of the most effective sunset shots in movies are either chroma key effect shots or huge backdrops shots.

I shot a multi screen vertical display recently and the best method I advised the client was to shoot in one camera on HDCAM so we could cut out the four segments in standard def during post later. The other option would have been to shoot four SD cameras vertically which would have been a major pain.
The camera shot the actors horizontal and I had the editor provide me a template for lining up the actors into the correct area. I was able to overlay the template over the live action in the field using a great feature in the Leader 5750 HDSDI waveform monitor which allows superimposing freeze frames over live action.
The concept and show worked great.

Give him a break once and you will never be able to raise your rates later easily.
It is essential to establish the real rate you intend to charge for the duration of your “relationship” with the client on the front end.
Why would a client pay more if the last time you gave him a break. They will expect the break everytime because that is the rate you have defined what you are worth and not a penny more.

Were you looking at an external safe title generator overlaying the reticles on top of the underlying video?
If so was it a digital safe title generator or composite?
There is a difference in where safe title will line up when looking at a digital versus composite version.

Ahh Young Grasshopper,
Please conduct the test using apple to apples comparisions not grapes to pineapples. The best testing gear to use for such a test would be a SD/HDSDI waveform vectorscope such as the Leader 5750, DSC cam align chart, and color critical multiformat monitor.
Good luck,

Bob,
The Kamio is available for rental as well.
Last I checked it was about $150/day direct from Kinoflo.
