Also, double check all of your settings. I don’t think it’s even possible to shoot with that camera and not record timecode. It should be there. How are you capturing the video?

FWIW…
I have a friend in Burbank that specializes in vintage video formats. He can transfer just about any old format, 2″ Quad, 1/2″ reel to reel, U-matte and so on, to a newer format for preservation. A while ago he sent me an article about a procedure for saving a tape in poor condition, usually due to failing or deteriorating binders. It involved literally baking the tape before transfering it to a newer format. I don’t have the article any more but you can contact David through his web site at:

Might be worth a try to save that old tape.

I agree. Even though it takes longer to capture I do individual clips, and it gives me the chance to review and actually look at the clips I will be working with in the edit. It comes in mighty handy later while editing when you hit the spot where you are looking for just the right clip. If you have actually looked at the source footage, you will have a much smoother time in the editing process and ultimatly have a better product. I’m an editor from back in the early linear days and I always tried to review all of my footage before beginning an edit.

A thought…
You DO have “video” enabled in the capture window? You are not set up just capture audio? If only audio capture is enabled, the capture window will only show color bars with the preview disabled prompt over the bars.

Or…and a bit cumbersome, capture the window output from the deck with the user bits displayed in the window. Edit the piece per normal referencing the user bit/window information when needed. After the picture is locked, go back and recapture the video with the window display turned off. Easy but a bit time consuming.

Go to aja.com and download the drivers you need. I believe you can just install the package and don’t need an Io actually attached.

Sounds almost like the fields may be reversed for some reason. Might check that.Make sure the field orders of all the clips match and are proper for the DVD.

Ditto for Media Concepts. That’s where I bought mine. I think, however, that they are in Oklahoma. At least that’s where they were two years ago.
