I trashed the pref but still having a problem
I’m encountering an inability to view video on my firewire DVCAM DSR11 in my Log an Capture window. I can see it and hear it on the preview monitor and I can see the audio meters of the log and captre window registering. I’ve trashed my preferences and restarted twice(the second time I actually emptied the trash can). I’ve gone in and chosen the easy setup for Firewire DV Basic and double checked the log and capture preset settings are to Firewire DV Basic. For a while I lost all deck control but that’s back now.
This problem is actually a problem when I go to batch capture. It produces an error every time.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

It may not help you, but I recently had a similar problem. After trashing the prefs (and did you trash the Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/Final Cut Pro user Data folder
*and* the Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist too?) I had to do a shutdown, not just a restart.

Actually I tried once more following your suggestion and it still doesn’t work.
All it says in the preview monitor of the log and capture is “Preview Disabled.” But t me the strange thing is that I have deck control, Audio on the meters, and when I mark in and out it is reading the timecode from the tape…
So it knows the deck and tape are there, but it isn’t getting a video feed.
Really the only other thing I have done to the computer since it worked properly is install the demo program of HDlog.
Do you think that has anthing to do with it? It’d be crazy if it did… Otherwise I guess I’m looking at a reinstall of FCP but this is a awful prospect due to a deadline. I’d have to drive down to my main offices to get the install disks. I have the serial numbers is there anywhere I can download the program?
I’d rather not go this route so if there are any other thoughts I’d certainly appreciate it.

A thought…
You DO have “video” enabled in the capture window? You are not set up just capture audio? If only audio capture is enabled, the capture window will only show color bars with the preview disabled prompt over the bars.

Ok I’ve read through every post on the matter here at Creative Cow and it seems as though the problem was a corrupted Quicktime Pro .pkg file. Trashing it like the FCP prefs did the job.
This has felt like a very windows moment to me…

If the file on the tape isn’t in the format you’ve specified in the capture settings, it won’t show up. That is, say your tape was recorded in PAL. You won’t see it if your settings are NTSC.
Wild chance.There have been several dozen Preview Disabled threads in the last few months, try searching.
