Have you got a resolution to this problem. I have had THIS EXACT ISSUE for a long time. My only workaround has been ProxyMill from Imagine products. And that’s simply for timecode burns for client review. I wold love to find an answer if you have one or just some insight on the issue.
Thanks! Tom

August 22, 2011 at 2:23 pm in reply to: AE8 crashing on initializing using interface after Lion installThanks Brian. Finally got it. Was as simple as old school deleting AE 8.0 prefs, just took a while to find them as Lion’s Home>Library is now a hidden folder.
Thanks!

Yeah….same thing. Shut down. restart. Other filters like gaussian, or 3-way color pop right up with no problem. Never seen anything like it.

This one is just from DV. Long meeting stuff and it’s fine on one machine but duplicated project doesn’t display the timecode in the canvas or the viewer, strange.

Finally got to the bottom of this! It was a bad controller card in the HDPro. Had swapped the Kona card and the CalDigit RAID card and we were running at only 1x. Swapped RAID card, Cables, same result. They shipped me a new controller card for the HDPro and poof! Boot up issue gone and I can now capture ProRes422. So it must look at the lane speed and throw a panic if it’s not 4x, but for ProRes only.
Well, Back up and running thought I’d post a conclusion here. And Shane! awe, nevermind….. 😉

If you have HD log from Imagine Products you can open your cards and then save as an Alias. You can then import those alias QT’s into an FCP bin and edit from there.

Episode is a great tool. IMO, I would stick with ProRes and not HQ because DVCProHD is an 8Bit codec and not 10Bit.

Looking like it mght be an HDPro thing. Got it to log & Capture to internal drives, but finally when I unplugged external FW drives via FW expansion card and started up OK with HD Pro…..went to L&C and grey screen freeze again. I’ll be calling CalDigit tomorrow

This is so crazy! The un-install utility seemed to work. It’s boots fine without my CalDigit HDPro, sees the prores codec and doesn’t crash. Wanted to test it with the HDPro and now I cant even get to the Apple on bootup. Have had intermittent issues over the last two months but always up & running after a couple of tries.
I’m flummoxed!

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks! Ran the utility and I’m finding myself in a startup loop. Any thoughts?
