I am delivering a commercial to Time Warner and they are accepting uploads of an SD and HD version of their 30 second commercial spots. I am posting the specs they gave me below. I’ve been trying to complete a test of the spot using compressor (Im using version 3.0.5) and Final Cut Pro 6. Their “settings” aren’t jiving with the options I have.

Anyone out there delivering this way that can point me in the right direction as far as my settings?

The commercial was shot in DVCPro HD on a Varicam. It was uprezed to 1080P on a Davinci 2K plus and I am using the ProRes 422 (HQ) as my new source for the commercial output.

Here are the specs for the delivery:

    Standard Def Parameters –

QuickTime Parameters: (typical video size is 200MB for :30 seconds)
    Video: MPEG4 – No H264
    GOP Sequence = IBBPBBPBBPBB
    Video Profile = 720×480 with a ratio of 4:3
    29.97 Fps
    6.4Mbs CBR or better
    Enable Interlacing
    Lower Field First
    Motion Estimation Factor= 100
    Enable GOP= Closed
Frame Mode= Interlaced Lower Field First
    Audio:
    AAC/MPEG1 Layer 2 or PCM
Audio mixed MONO or STEREO on both channels 1 and 2

    HD Parameters –

QuickTime Parameters: (typical video size is 200MB to 600MB for :30 seconds) .mov
    GOP Sequence = IBBPBBPBBPBB
    Video Profile = Mpeg4 1440X1080 with a ratio of 16/9
    1080i/HDV and/or HDV2
    29.97 Fps
    6.4Mbs CBR or better
    Enable Interlacing
    Upper Field First
    Motion Estimation Factor= 100
    Enable GOP= Closed
Frame Mode= Interlaced Upper Field First
    Audio:
    AAC/MPEG1 Layer 2 or PCM
Audio mixed MONO or STEREO on both channels 1 and 2

Thanks for the help with my settings. Jason

    Hi jason,
I think that you need Telestream “Episode” or so.
I think you can get something similar in Compressor or QT, but there you have no control over the GOPs structure.

Episode is a great tool. IMO, I would stick with ProRes and not HQ because DVCProHD is an 8Bit codec and not 10Bit.
