    Hi,

Had a look on the net for anyone who has had this strange problem and have found no answers so I am hoping that the magnificent combined brain power of the creative cow forum can come to my rescue.

I put the Timecode reader filter on my footage in my timeline in FCP and the timecode display doesn’t show up. I have checked all the settings, including the positioning settings.

I tried to use the timecode filter in Compressor.

    No go!

I tried the Timecode filter in Sorenson Squeeze and it was there for a short time and is now not working.

The TC filter does work in AE but sending everything to AE is very time consuming as I need to do a TC window burn of hours of camera footage.

I have opened up a FCP project which includes the TC filter on clips in the timeline and I know was working on another system but the TC display does not show up on my system. I have tried exporting a clip with the TC filter on it to see if its there but just not showing in FCP and it is not showing on the exported clip. I have tried the TC Generator filter also in FCP but it is not working.

Is there something wrong with my graphics card? Has something corrupted on my system that is to do with TC display? Is another program interferring this component? I can’t remember if I have used the TC filter on this system since I bought it mid last year.

Details below of my system and programs.

    Mac Pro 8 core
    2.4 GHz
    Memory: 6 GB
Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 5770
    Final cut Studio 2
    Sorenson Squeeze 7
    Mac OS X 10.6.8

Your help would be great appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Sarah

So you drop the filter in any clip in the time-line, and the TC doesn´t shows on top of the canvas picture when you render the clip?

    Hi Sarah,
Sounds like your FC is i a bad mode today.
Try something simpl: repairing permissions, re-start your Mac in Safe Mode,..
If still doesn´t works, trash FCs preferences.

Hello again Rafael, thank you for the tips.

I repaired disc permissions, trashed FCP preferences to no avail.

I started in safe mode. FCP wouldn’t run in safe mode but Squeeze would.

In safe mode I have the Time Code filter working in Squeeze but it does not work when I start up normally.

So, I’m thinking I have something on my system which is interfering with TC filter in FCP and Squeeze.

Stupidly, I do not have a clone of my original system that I can go back to.

Do you have any idea where I should be looking for what is taking out my TC filters?

    Cheers,

    Sarah

    Sarah,

Have you got a resolution to this problem. I have had THIS EXACT ISSUE for a long time. My only workaround has been ProxyMill from Imagine products. And that’s simply for timecode burns for client review. I wold love to find an answer if you have one or just some insight on the issue.

    Thanks! Tom

    Hi Tom,

The TC filter is still not working in FCP but I have upgraded Squeeze and it’s working in that again and that serves my purposes.

If I wanted to get the filter back in FCP the thing I would try is to re-install FCP and if I could wind back time I would have cloned my system drive when I got my new system with FCP installed then I could have really wound back time when the problem arose and that would have fixed or helped identify where it was coming from.

Thanks for letting me know about ProxyMill

Hope you get it sorted out in FCP. Let me know if you do.

    Cheers,

    Sarah
