When weird things start happening, first thing to try is trashing preferences.

Although, you don’t really say what you are trying to capture to (Mac or PC), and what options you have for input into your computer.

About the only other thing I could think of was maybe some strange thing happening with your video card. You could try turning off the GPU acceleration in preferences, putting it to Software Only to see if that does anything for you.

Make a new project and try importing your other project or your latest backup.

Try from AE, in Preferences, Media & Disk Cache – Clean Database and Cache.

Yes. Route your tracks. So on your timeline turn off A1 and A2, Turn on A3, and paste. You can also turn off all tracks and it will paste to the same track you copied from.

Some surveillance systems use proprietary files. You might find out if they have a way to export to another file type. Or find a converter.

Things you can try…
Delete Render Files. Clear out your cache. Render from AE and import the render file.

What are the specs of your original footage? File type, codec, fps… and did you import directly or go through Media Browser to import?
