Lossless/Lossless with Alpha is always a safe bet. Much larger files, but true quality. If you got the space, that’s what I’d do. However, under your Quicktime options, you do have the ability to render out exactly to the spec you are working, say HDV 1080p24.

I think it may have something to do with a rogue plugin. I’ve had this issue before after installing Aurora Sky (I think…had quite a few problems, though I beleive this to be the issue I’ve had concerning this)
After removing the plug in, everything worked fine.
    Hope this helps

Actually, it is a pain why it was set up this way, but an easy fix. I have found that going in to your preferences–>Memory and Cache and set them to the following:
Max Memory Usage: Leave at what it is (mine is at 120%, or equal to 3GB
Image Cache: 33% –This is where the problem most likely occurs, so the lower, the better
Check the Enable Disk Cache, and specify the settings where you would like it to save to

From what I have learned, you do NOT want it to render image cache to your memory. There is not really any need for it. Have it render to the disk. It works so much better

    Hope this helps

I am using FCP 6. No big deal, just a small “if I could make it better” thing. Thanks Tom

Hey, don’t forget about camera phones. haha
Seriously, we are in the middle of a project where the client gave us movies captured from a camera phone. While they are going for that “extremely low budget” look, this is comical. Thought I had done it all. how wrong I was…..

Check under your (menu bar) Sequence–>Render From there, you should be able to check which items to render. (proxy, preview, etc) From what I gather, it sounds like you don’t have the correct render setting checked for what you you need rendered. Hope this helps
