Just FYI, I had tried to do a fresh install of Leopard a month or two ago, and found out the hard way they do not have a stand alone installer for XSan. You have to install on 10.4.x and upgrade your OS, then update the XAdmin. Just in case….

December 2, 2007 at 3:34 pm in reply to: Will upgrading to FCP 6.0.2 stops the crashing of FCP?We had a huge problem with XSan once we upgradaed the machines to Leopard. It was weird, actually, as it worked fine for a week, then suddenly we lost connections and weird problems all around. Soon after, the fibre cards to the fibre switch lost connection, and firewire drives were randomly dropping out and it would take a day or two before they would come back.
Our solution was to reinstall (fresh) 10.4.x and rebuild the array. Once downgraded, everything has been working like a charm. I am not at all thrilled with the new OS. –And, to my knowledge, there isn’t a stand alone installer for XSan on 10.5. (at least I couldn’t find anywhere) -Have to install on 10.4 and “upgrade” all. But that’s just my humble opinion…
–And we are running 6.0.2 which had been running like a charmTim

To my knowledge, yes, you are able to put CS3 on a desktop and a laptop. I am currently using that exact scenario.

Card dance is a good way…–if in psd, convert the text layers in to editable text to maintain that vector base, non pixelated look with motion blur. But that’s my humble opinion….

We’ve been using FCP and XSAN for a few years now and haven’t really had any problems to speak. We churn out HD, HDV, and LoDef on a regular basis and it has run like a charm

BUT, if you must use firewire, go with F/W 800. And Western Digital makes a good drive. We’ve had quite a few problems with the Lacie big disks. The 1TB of the western digital can get a bit noisy with the fans, but the 500gb have been perfect for us.

Nope. Actually, I quit, restarted, and now it works. Weird…..

Weird, but suddenly my period key doesn’t do my audio render….maybe I turned something off?….

September 7, 2007 at 12:22 pm in reply to: Rendering/Exporting to Quicktime with DV CodecAlot of times, it has to do with the internal programs viewer window size. For instance, if you are watching your rendered movie on a view window of 113%, it will look fuzzy. Also, if the file is not rendered within your program, you may also see an ugly picture. Also, make sure your settings match. (if you are dealing with a 720×480 file and add a 720×486 file, it may appear to be a little weird)
Hope this helps
