Hi Keith
In the log and capture window, the second tab at the top right, (Clip Settings) you’ll see a check box for “Create new clip on Start/Stop”. Be sure this is unchecked if you desire to capture the clip as a whole. I log quite a bit of HDV footage on a regular basis, and really haven’t had a problem capturing. We are using Sony Z1U HDV camera’s. Hope this helpsTim

I have personally edited quite a few HDV clips with very little problem. I did have this same exact scenario last week, but it was with a different format. The problem, as it turned out, was the sequence frame rate was different from the footage frame rate. Maybe give that a quick check?

Trash your prefs, or reboot. Sometimes rebooting helps without having to trash your prefs. Happens to me on occasion.

I personally haven’t encountered this problems, but I have seen other issues which seem to revolve around enabling motion menus when working on a Mac. I can’t answer your question except to say it is my understanding that the Mac versions are a wee bit buggy. I’ve found by disabling the motion menu’s and setting my poster frames up manually, I get a result that works decent enough and burns properly. Guess we have to wait until V2 comes out.
But that is just my opinion. Wish you luck!Tim

Missed that one. Just saw it on CNN.com this morning. (They always seem to be a little slow in reporting…things end up there are few days after the fact)
Sorry for the repeat.Tim

There is a setting in the preferences for render control, and for some odd reason, it is defaulted to good quality. Make sure it is set to best. Also check your sequence settings to verify that it is checked there as well. I did notice quite recently when I animated a few photos in FCP (using QT7.4) I got a LOT of jump during transitions. A trick I learned a while ago was to delete the projects render files and re-render from scratch. This has, in the past, done the trick. But this time around, though I can’t say for sure, I think QT 7.4 screwed that option. I ended up rendering the photo’s out in After Effects to get the smoothness required.
Hope this helpsTim

Yes. We use our servers for rendering and various batches. It amazed me the speed difference between a G5 quad core and the server–in some cases about 5x’s as fast. Do keep in mind the server does not come standard with an audio card.

I’ve had a small issue or two, nothing major. There is one little thing that does bug me: the icon at the bottom will show AE is in the process of rendering during the time the program is open. This includes times when is is open but there is not actual project open. And we are running Nucleo pro, so AE doesn’t render technically render anything to produce that icon. But hey, if that’s all that’s wrong, I’ll take it.
