Don’t know about the 2030, but Bob Zelin’s comments about the 2050 are not very flattering. Take a peek at this thread: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/98/867993

Yikes! Thanks David. That is a harsh review of a higher-end model than the 2030. At a show, however, I looked at the 2050 and would not have been nearly as harsh. A studio at which I edit is putting in the 2050s… once they arrive I’ll send out an impression.

    Thank you!

Do a search for TV-Logic. They’re a company out of Korea. I’ll have a review on them shortly. Flat out the best LCD monitors I’ve seen yet. We tested the 24″ model.

You know, now that you mention it, I remember being pretty blown away by their images at NAB this year. I’ll check them out. Thanks for the reminder!

That’s part of the point. For an entry-level, the LMD 2030W is at B&H for something like $1300… unbelievably low considering the ins/outs, and resolution. I see it doesn’t give specifics on the color temp settings as do the next step-up monitors in the LMD series, so I’d assume that’s a significant drawbrack in professional use. But, for the price I was wondering if anyone had experience with it.

If it can’t reproduce solid blacks, then it’s not worth any price. I’ve yet to see a Sony LCD panel that can reproduce good solid blacks.

For that price, you’re better off getting a Panasonic Pro Plasma screen. 42″ is only about $1,000. 34″ is even cheaper.

    Hi Walter,
Do you have model numbers for the 42″ and 34″ Panasonic monitors you mentioned?

    Thanks,

    It’s a 37″ actually, I thought it was 34.

    There’s also a 50, 58, 65 and 103″ model available.

You can actually see the 103″ on NBC’s Sunday Night Football and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olberman. I really want one for my Nintendo Wii!
