Hi,
thanks for confirming that. Would have thought it possible as menus, slideshow pics etc. are all .psds (or other non-video format) until you actually build the project. Would like to build a ‘shell’ then add my NTSC or PAL assets and define the project then.
Cheers,

I’ve tried ditching the USB / Firewire card and buying a new Firewire only card – as if by magic it all works. Thanks for all the help.

Hi,
yes the cameras do appear under ‘Scanners and Cameras’. The card is a basic non-brand firewire / USB card. I was wrong about the analogue cature through the ADVC; it also hangs, just not as soon. I’m going to try a new firewire card / slot and then a re-instal of XP without SP2.

Hi,
i’ve tried what you said with no joy. I did try with a Sony PDX10 but had the same problems so i’m not sure it’s just a device control issue. Interestingly if i take an analogue feed out of the camera into my ADVC 50 and do a manual capture it works (in Movie Maker – haven’t tried with PPro yet). Any other thoughts?

Hi,
yes the raptor card is gone and i’ve done a fresh install of XP and PPro. I tried loading my old 6.5 version and it doesn’t see the camera either. I’ve a printer and a Jog Shuttle in the USB ports on the pci card and they work okay. I’ve a Canopus ADVC 50 which i’ve tried unpluged for DV input but if i go through that it disappears after capture crash too.
Thanks,

Hi,
if you google windows BSOD there are several issues that can cause this. If it won’t much past the bios / post screen then it’s most likely a memory issue. Swap out the memory and see if you have the same problem, it could be processor or motherboard but it’s most commonly memory. If you’re getting BSOD booting into windows but can boot into safe mode then it’s probably a driver conflict. Also do the basics and check that everything is plugged in and seated properly. Cables, boards etc. Is it BSOD in the same place in the boot up process each time?

April 6, 2006 at 8:36 pm in reply to: I want to know if and when somebody tries this, if PPro works…I’ve just tried doing the same on a system with an Athlon XP 3200+ and i get a little message saying my cpu doesn’t support SSE2. I’ve checked online and AMD only started supporting SSE2 on their 64bit chips. None of the socket A chips will run PPro 2.0 which sucks. Have to upgrade to AMD64 or go Pentium 4. From what i can see of the performance issues with PPro2 it needs a lot more muscle anyway.

FWIW – Agree with the videoguys recomendations. A note on GeForce 6’s – only the 6800’s have hardware supprt for directX 9 so i wouldn’t buy anything lower as you’ll gain very little over a 5 series. A vanilla 6800 is about

Hi Ron,
Been using this combo for a while now and love it – everything’s so much quicker. What i did was use the Premiere settings then did a new profile based on it and reprogrammed the non-common buttons to the Pro shortcuts. There’s a quickstart sheet comes with the package or the helpfile on the disk are both quite good at walking you through the setup program. Are you having trouble with anything specific?

Thank you both – gives me somwhere to start.
