  • Exactly same for us here, on windows super micro workstation. It works well on mac so it’s a resolve windows issue.

Many friends companies have the issue. BM doesn’t seem to care very much…

They only suggest to move to linux…

We change the GUI titan for a TitanX (same as the 2 other used for GPU) It’s better. But I think the interface since v12 is not optimized and too heavy.

The cache is still not working very well.

I’m happy to see I’m not alone anymore.

I m having the exact same issue.

I put a post a few days ago but no one noticed !

We went back to 10.1.2 and it seems to have solved the issue.

But for us , problem of blacks occurs since 10.1.3 with last cuda, With red rocket or without (using gpu)

December 9, 2013 at 10:26 am in reply to: Stills location when working with Davinci server

    Hello Dan,

We use to work on an SAN but we get better performance with direct attached storage (double 8Gb fiber)

But we always have mirrors backups storage so we can use another unit to render or prepare the projects.
We just have to change the source location when we change units.

And we use a mac mini as server so we share projects.

So I was wondering if it’s a good idea to use this mac mini to put the stills…

  • hi Roberts,

It was shot in anamorphic so I just change the pixel aspect ratio of each clip, using ‘cinemascope’ setting.

My first choice was to create as you said a 2.0 timeline, which is 1920×960.

I was wondering if there is a quality difference between two settings :

    -1920×960 timeline, 1920×1080 output,
-1920×1080 timeline, output zoom to reach 2.0, 1920×1080 output

    Best,

    Thibault

September 24, 2013 at 3:34 pm in reply to: JPEG2000 format question

Thank you Magnus but I don’t think this is the solution.

When I choose ‘Render to JPEG2000’, the resolution becomes grey with 2048 x 1080 and cannot be changed. It seems to be only the case with JPEG 2000, regardinless the resolution of the project…

The strange thing is that when you choose easydcp, you have access to many more resolution.
But my goal is not to make a dcp directly from resolve which lakes option, but to encode JPEG2000 faster than easyDCP does and after finish the dcp with easydcp.

Someone from BM may help me ?

  • Paul,

In fact, I thought resolve was seeing both cards but It was only seeing one : it shows 2 cpu but the reason is that 690 has 2 cpu each.

Kevin, your right. With one 690 same issue. We put back our 3 580 and since then, no more black frames.

So it’s really an issue with 600 serie.

Kevin, are you on mac ?

I think i lll try my 2 690 on a Pc version to look at performance and compare with the mac version…
