Resolve 9.1..6 350 MB and 130 MB
Posted by Detlev Scholz on September 5, 2013 at 5:26 pmHi,
just starting to work with Resolve I saw I can update to 9.1.6.
I am just puzzled that Resolve (Lite) is available with 130 MB in the App-Store
and 350ß MB on the Black Magic site.Where’s the difference?
Cheers

September 6, 2013 at 8:15 pmThank you very much. I posted the same question in a German Forum and was told the difference would be tutorials, the manual etc. Strangely enough there is still a difference of more than 100 MB. Meanwhile I guess iTunes might use another compression.

September 7, 2013 at 7:32 pmThe App Store version is OpenCL only so no CUDA. Therefore no need to ship CUDA library. With demo clips and other minor items it does add up.

September 7, 2013 at 9:16 pmThat’s interesting. I mean Cuda should let the program work much faster and better, no?
If so, why does the App Store abandon that option?Or am I wrong and Resolve works ok both ways?

September 8, 2013 at 4:02 amIn Resolve v10 the OpenCL performance is considerably closer to CUDA than previous versions. So the extra security required by the App Store sandboxing of apps and libraries won’t be a issue very soon. V10 is scheduled for release this quarter.
