random black frames during playback, No news of BM team
Hi,
We are experiencing problems since 2 days. during playback in the color room, black frames appear in both gui interface and 2k BM decklink output.
it does that on different kind of projects, projects we never had any trouble before.
We experienced that a few months ago I think. I must have reinstalled the mac pro but this time I’d like to understand what’s going on…The log show this message when the problem occurs :

Try removing one of your 690s to see if that helps.
Also – you on 10.8.3?

I’ll try without one of the 690 but It was working great for weeks with both cards… ?
Is resolve only using 1 card ? (it sees both). Do you think 3×680 would be a better ?

I had this problem due to a defect on the rocket. Luckily we had a spare and swapped it out solving the black frame issue and sent it back. I’m not entirely sure what happened to the card, but it was the culprit.

We’ve had this problem with a setup using 3xGTX680 and 2xGTX680, usually it would start after a few hours of use. We also have seen variations of black, yellow and purple flash frames. When we swap the 680s for 285s, the issue goes away immediately.
We took out one 680 at a time to ensure it wasn’t a single failing card, but the problem persists. BM support looked closely at our case but wasn’t able to find anything conclusive or replicate the problem on their system. So definitely follow up with them, and hopefully they will get to the bottom of it, it feels like an issue with the 600 series GPUs (another user posted similar symptoms on a 650m GPU).

are you still successfully running 2 x GTx 690 inside the Cyclone alongside your 2010 12 core mac pro?
how long have you been running both cards?
I’m thinking of adding a second GTX 690 as well, I have almost identical set up as yours, but instead of the Cyclone I have a Cubix desktop 4

In fact, I thought resolve was seeing both cards but It was only seeing one : it shows 2 cpu but the reason is that 690 has 2 cpu each.
Kevin, your right. With one 690 same issue. We put back our 3 580 and since then, no more black frames.
So it’s really an issue with 600 serie.
Kevin, are you on mac ?
I think i lll try my 2 690 on a Pc version to look at performance and compare with the mac version…

This issue seems to relate to having LUTs in the node tree, and is more pronounced with larger LUTs.
