No, I don’t know anyway to use PASTE ATTRIBUTES to copy only a part of the effects onto a new clip or to replace an existing effect. PASTE ATTRIBUTES always adds all effects. So if you have to COPY-PASTE ATTRIBUTES to a lot of clips, you will have to do this before you add any other effect. It means carefully planning the project…

Although there is a simple way to bypass the effect of copying all the effects: just temporarily uncheck the effects you don’t want to copy in the FX window before copying. Now these effects will be copied onto the other clips, but they won’t be active or visable in your output video.

One easy way would be to import the project with the ‘compound track’ into your main project as a nested file. That would give you only one track that needs the transition.

Can you render the clip with this modified effect? Or is (pre) rendering also not possible?

Add your effects to the first clip and when this is done, copy this clip. Next, select the second clip up to the last one, context (right) click and choose for the option PASTE ATTRIBUTES. All the other clips will have the same effects pasted onto them.

If you want two tracks to make the same movements, then you make one track the PARENT of the other one. Movements are made then in the PARENT MOTION window (which looks like the track motion window).

Before trying the maintenance install, you can also hold CTRL + SHIFT during start up of Vegas. This brings Vegas back to the default state.

Did you start your project with the proper project properties?

I could be a Windows problem. Can you go back to a recoverypoint made at the time Vegas (and other programs?) were still working normal?

There are 2 possible solutions for your mess:

1) open the default lay out via VIEW-WINDOWS LAYOUT- LOAD DEFAULT LAYOUT
If that doesn’t work then
2) Hold CTRL + SHIFT during start up of Vegas. Then you should begin with a fresh start…

And text editing? I do it in the text editor…
