Just export your project as avi file using the Lagarith codec (if you don’t have the Lagarith codec, you can download it from the internet). Don’t forget to include the alpha channel in the settings for the Lagarith codec (assuming that your Mac will also work with the Lagarit codec…).

What you can do to see the film effects only in the text:
    Create 2 video tracks.
Add your white text (with transparant background) from the media generator to the upper layer.
Add a white solid color to the lower track (beneath the text).
Add the film effect to the white solid color (not to your text)
Set the composition mode of the upper track (with the text) to Multiply (Mask).
Now you will see the film effects only in the text.

Excalibur is just a set of scripts for Vegas. So YES, you will perform your action WITHIN Vegas…
And just for your information, a script is nothing else than a way to automate functions already present in Vegas to perfom this function automaticly on multiple events. In my opinion, this is exactly what you are asking for…

Excalibur can do this (making pictures with the length of 1 frame and closing the gap).

    Jake,

Does your footage consist of a serie of pictures? Or is it just a piece of video where you make your pictures from? In that case I think you are better of with the Pixelan Steptime2 plugin.

How many seconds is the event with the pro-type titler? If you extend this event on the timeline, is it playing the complete effect?

If I understand well, you are talking about the background color of the event, not about the color of the text. You can simply place a solid color (or gradient or whatever you like) from the Media Generators tab to the track below the track that contains the protype titler.

Normally when you fade an event on a track, no other events on other tracks are faded automatically. Unless you select two events on different tracks. So probably you had selected events on both tracks when you faded track 7.

Yes, you can change blending modes in Vegas. In the trackheader of every track you will find a small alpha sign. Click on it and choose the desired blending mode.
