Title special effect
I am trying to make just the words/title I created on Vegas (just by adding a simple title) look like it is old film.
However, when I add the old film effect, it is effecting the background- (even though the background is transparent, I believe?), not just the letters.
Is there a way to do this?Masking does not seem to be working either. Although I am new to masking, so I could be doing something wrong.
If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

What you can do to see the film effects only in the text:
Create 2 video tracks.
Add your white text (with transparant background) from the media generator to the upper layer.
Add a white solid color to the lower track (beneath the text).
Add the film effect to the white solid color (not to your text)
Set the composition mode of the upper track (with the text) to Multiply (Mask).
Now you will see the film effects only in the text.Theo

I must be doing something wrong because it is turning the background black and no film effect.
Did I miss something?

OK, if you like to see your text over a background (like a video, motion background, solid color or whatever), place this background on track 3 below the other two tracks. Next, make track 2 a child of track 1. That makes track 3 visible as the background for your text.
And if you don’t see the old film effect through your text, you might need to increase the grain and/or the size of the particles.
