[John Doggett-Williams] “I still miss my VX1000, have you tried using other firewire cables?

If the cable is not the problem, just borrow any other DV camcorder and try capturing from that.

Are you feeding a LINE-level output into a MIC-level input?

[Peter Groom] ” Im not familiar with that desk,
but unless its a “big boy” then I cant think it will matter either way.”

Nope. Not much of a “big boy.”

    Quite the opposite.

    HERE’s a look.

Also doubt that it’s power supply really needs a surge protector.
(But, of course, it can never HURT to have one…
might help in the case of lightning on the power line.)

That Shure (and many other similar models in that line) is a very rugged and time-proven box.
Tens of thousands in use around the world, around the clock, for years and years.

    Full Mac restart.

Turn off, wait, then turn back on capture device.

Unplug and re-plug all connections between Mac and capture device.

    Is this DV?

    What capture device?

    If these fixes don’t work.

Create a NEW PROJECT and try to capture the same footage in that new project.

I like to put ALL of the audio on the camera’s master (tape, or whatever.)
That way, I have it all together and it is already synced with the video, when needed.

A second audio device would be great for back-up, just-in-case, of course.

[Robert Martin] ” Is Apple aware of the issue? “

This thread is from about 5 years ago.

Let’s hope that similar issues have been addresses in the interim since 2005.

[Sacha Sojic] “I’m finding it difficult to search through terabytes of foley and sound effects if I can’t easily bring up the waveform and play out a portion of the track. “

Bring up the waveform from what source?

  • If there was that much inherent delay native to Bluetooth, I’d think using a Bluetooth headset on a cellphone would make having a conversation in real-time nearly impossible.

    [Dan Quintero] “Absurd! “

The 1202 is a pretty basic mixer. (And, a very good one for many applications.)

The Mackie 1402 does offer solo (and many more) features for not a lot more money.

There is no “solo” switching on a 1202.

If you are just doing a stereo mix (no 3&4) you could Mute the channel you want to hear and switch the monitor/phones to “Alt 3-4” but that would kill the channel in the mix, of course.
