While it is true that you can rename the project at the OS level. Avid will ignore that change. As with bins, Avid has hidden metadata that it looks at. This is all part of the media management that is actually a big plus.
If you want to see what I’m saying in action, do a little test. Create a dummy project and call it Test A. Then quit out of Avid an rename it to Test B at the desktop level. Now restart Avid. When you get to the project window you will only see Test A as an option.
It’s the same for a bin. Make a copy of your bin at the system level. Call it whatever you want. Now try to open it in Avid while the original bin is open. You can’t. This is because Avid sees it as the same bin. This will also catch you when you pull a bin from the attic if you aren’t aware of it.

It’s been a while since I did a 720P session. (For good reason) but I remember it working as suggested. Sometimes you would get interlace vs progressive warnings and a second decompose would usually fix them.

This has to be a setup.
I’ll bite. I have both systems and I experience exactly what you are mentioning with FCP. Avid is far more stable. That comes at the price of flexibility. FCP is far more flexible.
There are plenty of folks who claim they have no problems with FCP. I think they are using the system in exactly the same way day after day and have long since figured out the workarounds for the bugs in the system.

When you say you finish on “NTSC HDSR” I’m a little confused. NTSC is 29.97 SD. Are you finishing a 1080P 23.976 master or 1080 60i? Either way, master at 23.976 and make a pulldown added 60i master if needed.

We have done quite a bit of this. The only area where we hit problems is with titles and imported matte keys. If these are created in the Adrenaline, Symphony Meridien will have errant problems with them. However if they are imported / created in the Symphony, they will come forward to Adrenaline without issues.
