I have a question that hopefully some of you guys have already done:
I have a Symphony system (Meridian based). What is the compatibility with the new Adrenaline systems? The specific application is I have a client that likes to do his own rough cuts, 20:1 low rez stuff. Just cuts and dissolves, no titles, efx, etc. If I give him a MAC laptop running the new Media Composer and a portable hard drive with the low rez media on it, can he give me back a sequence that my system will recognize?

    Thanks!

We run both Adrenaline MC and Meridian Symphony.

To ensure that you can go back and forth we create the project on the Meridian system. (as Projects created in Adrenaline MC tend to not open well in the Meridian Symphony)
Footage has to be captured as OMF (Adrenaline MC defaults to MXF media – audio too).
If using Sapphire FX in the Adrenaline use the AVX1 version.
Adrenaline MC will not read the Symphony Colour Corrections.

    You should have no problems.

As long as it remains just cuts and dissolves you should be good to go. Typically, going backwards is not the best workflow however. Avid will support taking older projects/sequences/bins to newer products instead of the other way around.

will recognize the project with no problem. You can batch the bins and rock on.
May as well just finish on the symphony tho, right?

We have done quite a bit of this. The only area where we hit problems is with titles and imported matte keys. If these are created in the Adrenaline, Symphony Meridien will have errant problems with them. However if they are imported / created in the Symphony, they will come forward to Adrenaline without issues.
