Jason tnx for reply! Similar what you did on play/stop… buttons I have done on Logitech mouse, all the scrolls and arrows on mouse now working on those shortcuts. But still… not even fully working Artist panels would offer fast work like Resolve panels. I got word from BM support they are not planing to support Transport. I hope they will put just a little bit more in Color panel support, when I use the saturation knob I just se 0.00 moving nowhere in GUI there is a change of value 🙁 all whit all other controls

Jason,
thank you for writing some feedback on Transport panel! I don’t have it but thinking about it. Is the jog only thing that doesn’t work on the panel? The soft keys can be programed and the numeric pad works for selecting the shots? If you type in 5 and press enter does it take you on the shot #5? This doesn’t work on normal keyboard numeric pad, only on Resolve panels and Eclipse. Also transport panel?Tnx for reply!

Margus I agree! This is old equipment and we all want to move up on new tech. I admit LCD and plasma options are great when you are doing broadcast, blu ray, home viewing stuff. You see on same tech like people watching at home. But what about the DCP and film print. Even in Rec709 if you compare the blacks, they are not reproducing in same way on any of the technologies.
I have seen and tested a bit Sony’s OLEDs. They are great, specially in dark room, what I prefer for film work. But still I can not decide if it is so much better than LCD it just doesn’t feel the same like CRT comparing to projector.
OK let go back watching in my LCD 🙁

There is always just a debate between LCD and Plazma displays. Nobody is asking them selfs why the bigest and the best, let’s say it that way, colorist are still working on old CRTs, is the new Sony BVM OLED finally replacing BVM-D line of 32″ and 24″ CRTs, how they were called back in the days digital cinema CRTs?
I had an opportunity to se old BVM and new LCD same ambient same source, it is a big difference! Here is a Sony promo video about it:
https://vimeo.com/28860170Yes, and you can get used CRT for similar price you are spending on LCDs, plazma etc… It is just eBay digging 😉
P.S.: I work on a 24″ JVC LCD (very very bad monitor) and a old 12″ CRT. The CRT is first to look, level out the contrast, than I look on LCD and adjust the colors.

November 10, 2011 at 3:48 pm in reply to: Tangent Devices Wave Panel vs. Euphonix MC Color (Avid Artist Color) – FIGHT!Robert, how does Launchpad works in Resolve? Can you map keyboard shortcuts on it? So I could map on all the keyboard combinations and than print out transparent stickers an put on the functions? That would be very nice, to have like one button command for next shot, or previous node, new serial+PW etc… Is it that simple?
Thanks for reply!

November 8, 2011 at 4:38 pm in reply to: Tangent Devices Wave Panel vs. Euphonix MC Color (Avid Artist Color) – FIGHT!Look for support on the other applications you need, Redcine X and similar stuff? If you will be using Avid 6 than for sure MC Color, because it will be supported in Avid 6, not sure for Wave.
Tangent is loud on pressing the buttons, I dont like the clicking sound, but on the other hand the MC Color is so soft sometimes you don’t know if you have even pressed the button. But hey, if you have an option to put your hands on both… than it is just the ergonomics u prefer! They are both the same, for this price/performance stunning!

Big names talking good stuff about the OLED.
Does anyone know the real difference between PVM and BVM? OK colorspaces and tools… but if you work in Rec709 is there the same picture performance? If they say it is the same panel, but still I don’t believe it is the same picture quality and just software limited functions like?

Put in some heavy contrast shot, another one with full colors, that over-grade it, go far beyond. Render it out, than check in other software scopes/legal detectors and it will all show OK. For instance, go in Final cut and turn on legal check (or something like that) in the timeline canvas, where you turn on/off the title/action safe…
