I have a Canopus ACEDVio card and realized that it had no WIN7 drivers. I found this site that fixed my problem. It too states to use the Legacy driver and my card works fine now with Win7.

I too use a DV camcorder. I use the cable with rca plugs on one end for the VCR player and the 18″ mini plug for the camcorder end. Captures to the PC via firewire to AVI in Vegas Capture.

Mike,
Although the CDs are rated at 52X I always burn CDs at 16X and burn my DVDs at 4X. I’ve always felt that it might take longer to burn at slower speeds but you have less chance for errors. When I burned the 37 CDs with NERO I also burned them at 16X and all 37 plays perfectly. I’m really at a loss as to why only 13 out of 50 burned correctly using Vegas and 37 our of 37 burned correctly using NERO.
It just bothers me to think that my client has been giving out CDs that do not play. At least I know that the last 50 are OK because I checked each and every one of them.
I don’t mind just using NERO from now on…but I don’t like not knowing what’s going on with this…it bugs me.

Thanks for the quick reply Steve…but this is a random thing. This last batch of CDs were burned one right after another…and only 13 of them played. I normalize the audio files as I render the mix so I don’t normalize when burning…and nothing is muted (or it would be the same on all CDs burned).
I too am really baffled by this. So far I’ve burned about 30 CDs with NERO and every one of them plays perfect. As I said, same spindle of CDs so I don’t think it’s a bad batch of CDs.

Thanks a bunch guys. I will definitely go ahead and buy the genuine Sony batteries.
I’m seriously thinking about getting the Sony HVR-Z7U HD camera. It uses the same batteries…so I could use them with both cameras.

[Mike Kujbida] “What I find helps is to create the text at 2X my project resolution.
That is, if I’m in the NTSC DV realm, I’ll make my text at 1440 x 960 instead of 720 x 480.
This does make it a bit smoother.
You do this by changing the numbers in the Frame size boxes in your generated media.”This is a great idea Mike. Makes a world of difference. Thanks for that tip…!

Sounds like you may have “docked” your text window. Look in the upper left hand corner of the text window…you will see some vertical “dots”. Click your mouse on those dots and drag the window. That will “undock” it.

You could just hook a digital camcorder to the audio/video out of a DVD player and capture the segment you want through the firewire out of the camera. That way you have an AVI to work with that is only the length you want.

Make sure the “downmix” button isn’t engaged. It’s up in the master section, just to the right of the properties icon.

I still see these cards for sale under the name Grass Valley (Canopus)…but do state in the specifications that the supported operating systems go up to XP Pro. I am surprised that the company has not came up with updated drivers. I am assuming that Grass Valley bought out Canopus. I see that they still have this card listed on their website
https://www.grassvalley.com/products/acedvio
but even there it states WIN 2000 or XP in the system requirements, but not WIN 7.
