Thanks Glenn,
I was afraid of that. It’s not that big of a problem…other than the added work of deleting all the unused tracks.I appreciate the response…!

Anyone have an answer to this? I just did another 3 camera shoot for the same people…and have the same problem. The file capture on the HyperDeck contains the video file and 16 audio files. I’m not capturing the camera audio…so the only audio files I need are the first two tracks.
Any way to only capture the two audio tracks so I don’t end up with 14 black audio tracks that I have to delete?

That’s true Steve. Although, if Sony gets the bugs out of 11 it will be as near perfect as we can ask for 🙂 .
I read in the Sonar forums too, that there are bugs that needs fixed in that software too.
I’m sure it’s pretty hard to get such sophisticated software to run on such a wide variety of PCs with different hardware configurations.

Lance, I wasn’t sure when this changed as I jumped from 8.0c to 11. I also liked the sub mixes placed in the master window like it was in the earlier versions.
I really don’t understand why they changed this. I actually upgraded to 11 because I bought a hi def camera and 11 does seem to handle hi def video better. But as far as audio, I’d rather use 8.0 than 11.
I even bought Cakewalk X1 Expanded to start doing audio on…because I was getting so many random “Sony Vegas has stopped working…” crashes. I am just now finding time to mess with the Sonar software. It does have a lot of useful functions and is actually geared more toward audio than Vegas is. But I am so used to using Vegas for audio that it’s just a pain to have to learn new software after spending money to upgrade Vegas.
I just wish they would fix the bus solo function as I use that all the time…and it no longer works 🙁 .

I too have been doing audio for +30 years (as a profession). To me, there is one bug in Ver. 11 that needs to be fixed. The solo function does not work when trying to solo an audio bus. It will solo the bus from the other buses, but not from the rest of the individual tracks.
Maybe this is some new thing which Sony thinks is better…but to me it is a bug. I use the solo function for buses quite often…and it does not work. It worked great in Ver. 8c which is what I upgraded from to 11.

It shows up as the correct 521 64 bit on mine also. You might try clearing your cache and cookies…just a thought. And, update to ver. 10.0 of FireFox.

I do mine the exact same way Mike described…plus I also click on the “Remote” tab and change that “Destination” from “Most Recent Menu” to the video file’s name. Not sure this makes a difference…but it’s something I’ve always done for my continuous play DVDs.
I hope I’m describing this correctly…I’m not in the studio right now. But I do know that it’s under the “Remote” tab.

I too, like Mike, have shot and put 2.5 hours on a single DVD. My footage was a memorial service shot with a Sony VX2100 inside a church during the day with plenty of light and also the graveside service. There were a few long winded speakers that spoke at the service.
I rendered with a single pass VBR using a bitrate calc. I was concerned at first about the quality since the footage was so long but it turned out great. There was even a spinning ceiling fan that was in view and it looked very natural.
I usually don’t like to put more than 2 hours on a disc but this instance turned out fine.
edited to add:
With this being a memorial service, my camera was on a tripod and there was not much moving other than an occasional zoom in and out.————————————————

I see that the bus solos still do not work correctly. Then again…I really didn’t expect that to be fixed. I sent a message to customer service…although probably in vane.
Can someone tell me the proper channels to go through to report this bug? Maybe I just didn’t go about it the right way. They need to know about this bug…especially for anyone who likes to do audio production with Vegas.
I recently purchased Cakewalk Sonar X1 to do my audio stuff on but haven’t had a chance to even “get acquainted” with it yet.

Ahhh…I guess I interpreted it differently when he said…
“I shot a live performance of my brothers band. They live performance was recorded in a studio, so I have the performed audio mix on a CD”.
I was thinking he was saying that he shot the live performance as they were recording it in the studio. If it was actually two different recordings….that would definitely be a next to impossible task.
