i have it currently set up as you outlined, which yields the rolling video on my monitor. my guess is that the system i screaming for a black burst generator. i’ll get one on Monday and see if that solves me problem. thanks, though!

Hi April,

There are a couple ways within FCP, but for more advanced stuff, go to Motion or Live Type (though i think LiveType is virtually completely contained within Motion). anyway in FCP…

go into your Effects bin in your browser. then to Video Generator / Text / Crawl (or Scrolling Text). you can do more advanced stuff from right within FCP by going to Effects/Vid Gen/Boris. play around in there for awhile! : ) another way to get to all of the above text thingies is in your Viewer, click on the bottom right button and you’ll access the same stuff.

i hope this helps, or hopefully i haven’t restated the obvious for you!

NTSC monitor (Commodore 1084s), where the tape itself looks great (and no horizontal roll!) when playing from the deck, but upon playback from the timeline, it is dark and rolls.

THAT is a very cool feature! I did the nesting thing. On a related idea, I also found out that when you change the default single frame import size, you have to reimport your still so it will have the new length when put into the timeline. Most people probably knew this, but i just “discovered” it today. Maybe it will help someone else, too.

the other workaround i found is that when i am about to drag one of these 12-channel clips into the timeline, i just make sure that only 2-channels are “patched” on the left side of the timeline. it works for now, but would like to know how to drop these 10 channels in the capture process in the future. let me know if you have any guesses why my option is ghosted. thanks again for your input.

in log and capture, my audio input selector is ghosted (with a lovely little “12” in der box), so i can’t change it…
