    should add
    -30fps/30sec/900frame
    1080iHD project
I loaded the “naked” version of this file (it is a purchased template), and without all the DropBox images (ie mine, all under 1MB), it plays at 9fps. Still glacial.

I do a LOT of SD in motion, so maybe I expect too much from HD? But, Jeez!: 12Core/16GB Ram? I mean…
    really??

    Thanks Sascha –
burn a DVD from what source? I have tried to watch the Classes-on-Demand version, but the buffering is maddening and FAR from useful as a quick reference if I’m in the middle of Resolve and trying to recall a technique, etc. I want a DVD/video file on-board I can snap open, cue to and GO!

Jeez – with all the training out there no one has made a training course for this??

Rant aside, sure, a video file would be fine. Happy to BUY a DVD or whatever, just can’t FIND one!

    cheers

so – I WILL check thru the archives then!

At least I now know it is POSSIBLE to make the conversion in Compressor.

Can anyone comment on the _quality_ of the conversion vs say Natress Conversion software? Which I hear is very good…
    ?

    now to start digging…

June 23, 2011 at 8:03 pm in reply to: FCP7 and Motion 5

May I jump in here and ask this:
    1) ignoring round-tripping,
can I buy/use Motion 5 as a stand-alone to create graphics, render them out THEN import finished projects into FCP7?
    2) does M5 recognize M4 projects?
    3)does loading M5 DELETE M4 or can they co-exist, like FCP7 and X?
    thanks

March 24, 2011 at 2:49 am in reply to: motion 4 won’t allow media replacement?!

Thanks Andy – not familiar with THAT move 🙂

My work around was to delete the _original_ file in the source folder, so when motion went looking for it I could THEN select the replacement file. Dumb but effective.

like I said, its not CONSISTENTLY a problem, even when jumping M3 projects to M4.
    Damn.

    Appreciate the time!

    Thanks Tom-
did not know Apple offered this resource…
Really tho? Q’s like this are not Cow-worthy? I mean, theoretically, ANY Q/answer is out there on google, so one wouldn’t “need” Cow at all. Or do you mean just no Stoopid Qs? Gads – how do we start judging that? If there is a criteria or threshold for proper Qs somewhere, please tell me where (oop! another dumb Q?).
I try to figure stuff out on my own or with vendor sources before coming to the Cow. This is a fab resource and I hope I am not guilty of abusing it…

*sigh* indeed, Migration of FCP seems to suck.
On a plus note, got back original Disks Set (FCP 5.1), loaded it in with recovered SN, then popped in the new Upgrade and FCS3 up and running.

    🙂 Happy Camper
Thanks for thoughts on this. Forum Folk awesome as usual.

My thanks to you all for this input! Obv the lesson here is keep a closer tab on License data 😉
I have now got the SN and the original FCP 5.1 install discs, tho I would hate to have to “retro-stall” 5.1 in to get access to the FCS3! I am hoping I can jump direct from 6.0.2 to the Newest with just a download update
    ??
FWIW I originally plugged the 2 towers together via Firewire and transferred all the Old Tower contents to the 12core with Mac’s Assistant software. FCP works fine (still) in both machines, tho, inexplicably, both
SoundtrackPro and Compressor were dead-on-arrival in the 12 core!
    weird.
re-install direct from discs did nothing to resurrect them either.
    annoying.
Hope these issues go away with new FCS3

    regards
