    Hello Margus- my thanks!
Yes BOTH control panels visible – and have always been so.

    AND –
boot up this AM: ALL WORKING FINE!

not sure I am more relieved or worried, since I did _nothing_ to it. Damn.
Ah well …. will see what happens.
    confusion reigns!

    Have done this margus.
Nothing from the card to the external boxes. I just thought there maybe some BM software, etc that showed the card was active or generating a signal…

    ??

    Was very sudden.
    odd.

  • aaak Jerry! don’t SAY that without a link! torture!
    ;D

Rafael – re 29.97 pull down – thanks! makes sense as described. so 23.98 it is then.
really appreciate the hand-holding here guys!

  • 🙂
yes, I knew I was doing it wrong… which is why I am here 😉
The 29.97 frame-rate was client-requested AFTER the shooting, so one does what one can! Will give Compressor a go to see how it looks. thanks.

But your point makes me wonder if its not better to shoot 29.97P then if someone wants 23.98 it would make more sense to PULL a frame rather than cover up for missing ones going Up the Other Way??

Thanks for your guidance. Lots to Learn…

  • Dave-
    I am converting 23.98P to 29.97 _P_ , not _i_
    FWIW

  • Hi Shane-
ProRes 442 HD 23.98 – trying to re-frame-rate to 29.97. Which it DOES (FCP>Export>ProRes- with appropriate change in FPS) – so I _AM_ getting the 29.97 but only first 48 seconds.
    weird.

Like I said – QT7 Pro did the conversion (thanks Gawd) but really stumped as to why FCP would do this.

  • Thank you Dave. Lots to learn here. 🙂
Where I can, I would certainly shoot rates that suit a particular application. Big trick is any one ad we produce goes to, say, 4 diff stations and each has a different spec! So I am trying to shoot/edit on the most flexible “base” that I can then generate alternate rates too.
So it sounds like EITHER 29.97 OR 23.98 would work? Does not sound like there is a quality difference between them as far as changing to other frame-rates. Have to say I am partial to 29.97 given a choice.

  • Hi Dave – thanks. so understood re: 24. Suppose the same for 30fps too. Good tip on the 23 to 29 audio pitch!! 🙂

720P. Really? gads. My Scarlet bros will have my hide if I run this thing down that far! Get enough “grief”
    “just” running HD!

  • Hi Stephen! (love your tutorial stuff)
Its fairly complex (but jeez, its motion so aren’t most??)
5- camera layers (1 after the other)
    11 drop zones (floating pictures)
    3 background “walls” -images
1-power-sucking light flare, which I disabled and actually layered in a second pass, so presume “turning it off” should speed things up (certainly did for the render!!)

Again – this whole project was speedy enough last week to allow me to run to at least judge ease-in/outs etc in playback but NOW at 1fps?? no way 🙁

    cheers
    Stu
