I wouldn’t use that disc myself – get the latest version of the XDCAM transfer software from the Sony website instead. The current version of XDCAM Transfer is 2.9.0

I wonder what it would feel like if you bunged a v-lock adapter on it and hung it off the battery pack… Anybody know how heavy it is? The brochure doesn’t seem to say…

The 2.7 version of the XDCAM transfer software doesn’t fully support the HD422 setting that the 700 can use. You need 2.8 or better, as you found out.

The current version of the software is 2.9, you can get from this page:

Have you considered LTO for your archive? It’s more cost-effective in the long run, and I trust LTO waaaaaay more as a long term storage solution than HD’s. 800 GB for £30 a go!

What more do most people really need? The Kona 3 pretty much does everything unless you stray into the really, really, high-end stuff.

Although a cheaper IO HD would be nice…
