That is NOT correct.
X-Rite do indeed limit the different probes. There is even a ‘standard’ OEM probe, as well as vendor specific OEM versions, as well as X-Rite’s own non-OEM version.
I have the documentation from X-Rite that states this, so you have been badly informed.
We have requested access to the non-OEM probes for LightSpace but have not yet been granted this. We may be, but we may not…
So to reiterate, this is TOTALLY an X-Rite limitation that they control and we can do nothing about without their assistance.

Oleds can be a pain, as can Plasmas with their PWM operation.
But, we have done a load of calibrations using Hubble and the cheaper i1 Display Pro using LightSpace CMS with great results.
One thing to look out for is setting integration time of the i1 Display Pro to a value that works with the screen frequency – for example with Plasmas set the integration time exactly N * (1/fpwm); where fpwm is the PWM frequency and N is a relatively large integer (say 100 or so).

The i1 Display Pro does indeed work with LightSPace CMS – but you MUST have the OEM model.
This is a X-Rite limitation, and nothing to do with LightSpace.
I’m actually doing a bunch of calibrations in Istanbul at the moment using this probe – very good results.

The only way to ‘match’ two displays is to profiles them both and make a 3D LUT to match one to the other. This can include the active ICC profile, or not…
LightSpace will do exactly as you need.

If you need to convert LUTs – virtually any formats – look at LightSpace CMS, or the LUT conversion service Light Illusion offers.

Hi chaps,
A LightSpace plug-in for Resolve would be very easy to do, and I have had some discussion with BMD regarding this.
Problem seems to be getting them to actually commit do the work…
This is not something we can do, as there is no SDK available for us to use, as we did with Scratch.
What I can say is to do the plug-in would be trivial coding – SGO did their plug-in for Mistika in a few hours.

Hi Neil,
I’m in Hyderabad right now with the new Mistika real-time 4K DI set-up we have built at Annapurna…
As for FCP and Alexicc, you batch process, so the speed can be above real-time.
We use LUTs for calibration all the time, and FCP can’t use LUT unless with Color.
Also the output cards cannot feed back the LUT output, or change the LUT on a clip-by-clip basis, as you need with Alexa footage for dailies.
We have a new version of Alexicc on test that automatically selects the correct LUT (ICC profile) based on the camera metadata. This is very cool.
You going to NAB? You really should come see Mistika – Park Road Post have 6 now! And you know what film they are working on :o)

Hi David,
Speed is processor dependent, but we have good results on a MacBook Pro.
We have a demo/eval version available – e-mail me for a copy.
And you can have as many profiles available as you want…

The Alexicc Software we have just released enables Avid MC ProRes workflows for ALexa footage with LUTs (looks) burnt in by using ICC profiles.
This may be of interest?
See Alexicc on the Light Illusion website for more info.

SpaceMan is a Windows app – at the moment. But the ICC profiles generated are OS generic, and we also offer LUT to ICC profile conversion as a service.
Hope this helps.
