Does anyone know if the Truelight box can export a LUT that is compatible with Resolve?

You can use LUTs generated by a number of systems including the one you mentioned however as they don’t have a simple export LUT function to a open LUT format, like .cube, then it takes a little extra work.

If you refer to chapter 6 of the Resolve user guide in the section on generating LUTs there is some guidance.

Ive received truelight.cube files as a 16x16x16. Open it in Textedit and the top will look like below. Replace the #Cube line with “LUT_3D_SIZE 16” without the quotes so that it looks like the second section below. Place in /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/LUT/Arri folder (If no Arri folder, add one). Then it should show up in Davinci.

    first section
    ——————————–
    # Truelight Cube v2.0
    # iDims 3
    # oDims 3
    # width 16 16 16

    # Cube

Please add the .cube to the CineSpace folder – not Arri.

I can read Greek (similar alphabet) but it doesn’t mean I can understand it. Just being able to manipulate Truelight file doesn’t mean, that Resolve will interpret it correctly. Truelight is not just a software, like Cinespace. It’s a fully self contained color management solution, specifically designed to work with their own hardware. That hardware box takes SDI signal and internally applies color transforms for correct output. That is why to use their LUT may be not as simple as it seems.

If you need to convert LUTs – virtually any formats – look at LightSpace CMS, or the LUT conversion service Light Illusion offers.
