Hi. I am about to get an HDLink DisplayPort box for monitoring video on the computer display I used with Color before.
My current calibration process involves using an Eye One Display 2 and Argyll/DispCalGUI to generate an ICC profile with a curve loaded in the graphics card.
Does anyone know a way of converting this ICC profile/curve to a 3D LUT for the HDLink or to directly generate a LUT??

Thanks to anyone willing to help!
    Rodrigo.

I think Light Illusion is offering that kind of conversion as a service.

    well ,
but that .icc calibration would not be REC709 gamut compatible …i guess that set just white point and gamma …not really precise (you need cinespace or Lightspace for that (or use the proprietary calibration utility that came with PRO broadcast monitors

pS:the dreamcolor can be calibrated for Rec 709 using the dreamcolor utility

    hope this help

The more important question here for me is if we can use Davinci to generate that LUT. In other words, load up primaries targets as media, build a 3D lut in resolve that makes them accurate, then export the LUT to the HDLIink. Still waiting on an answer for that one.

Yes the .cube format will work on the HD Link.

I just want to have “the same” image I’m having currently with Color and just the DVI connection, but through the DeckLink + HDLink. Simple.
I know might not perfect, but I already work with this and see good results in DCI screening rooms and broadcast monitors, so I want to stick with the same parameters.
Plus, the sRGB color space is the same as the REC709.
I just want to find a way to translate the curve in the ICC to the HDLink.

    Rodrigo.

If my monitor is hardware calibrated REC 709, why should I use a lut in hdlink with the same REC 709? Isnt the HD signal that comes from the decklink already REC 709 compliant?

The only way to ‘match’ two displays is to profiles them both and make a 3D LUT to match one to the other. This can include the active ICC profile, or not…

LightSpace will do exactly as you need.

I was able to get the LUT with cube extension out of DaVinci
Went to Config>LUTs then last option on Left Bottom “Generate LUT From Current Grade” – Save Lut As

Then I went to HD Link PRO Utility loaded this lut and the whole image looks embossed and very strange looking, i can barely make out of what the picture was.

What am I doing wrong in my workflow to get the DaVinci lut to HDLink Pro.

Fyi, my HDLinkPro is DisplayPort if that matters.

Are you using the steps to generate LUT from a grade? It’s a little more complex than it needs to be, but that’s what it is right now, and is documented in the manual (I think).

You need to copy the grade to a test pattern image called trim_lut0.dpx, and make sure your system resolution is set to HD when you do this.

no, the only steps i did are as described.

can you clarify the steps you mention 1 by 1 pls.
    thanks
