April 5, 2005 at 3:52 am in reply to: Help required in making layers move along a pathHere’s one way:
1. Make a new solid the size of the comp.
2. Using the circle mask tool, hold down the shift key and drag the mouse to create a circle mask on that solid.
3. With the solid layer selected, hit the M key to reveal mask properties. Select the word “mask”, and edit>copy.
4. Reveal the position property of the bull layer by selecting the bull layer and hitting the P key. Highlight the word “position”.
5. edit>paste. The bull should now move in a circle that matches the circular mask.
6. You can delete the masked solid if you like.To adjust the speed of the path, drag the first and/or last keyframe. The others will follow.

Effect>time>echo might do it for you if you tweak it right.

Try the effects under the “time” sub-menu, such as Echo or CC Wide Time if you have 6.5.

So nobody answered your first post? 🙂
This is a 3D displacement issue, and AE has no native tools to solve that problem.
This is the closest you can get using AE, in my opinion:
https://www.digitalanarchy.com/3Dlayer/3Dlayer_main.htmlYou might have to make your own displacement map representing the contour of the buffalo as seen in profile. Your footage might not work, because it probably doesn’t show light values where the animal is convex, and dark where it is concave.

Got Norton Utilities/Antivirus? If so, try switching off auto-protect.

Sorry Jeff, you have to buy the regular Std or Pro versions of AE 6.5 to get the plugs.
The only other options might be:
-purchasing Final Effects Complete from Media 100, but they (FEC plugs) may be dead, and they cost way more than an AE upgrade, or
-purchasing Trish & Chris Meyer’s Creating Motion Graphics books, one of which may have the FE Sphere plug included for free.Steve

Edit>templates>output module. Same goes for Render Settings.
You can make a new template for your M100 settings by clicking the “new” button in the dialog. At the top of the dialog you can make it the default if you like.
It’s often prudent to use “save all” (in the dialog) to save your templates to a file in case you have to trash your prefs to fix a problem at some point. Trashing prefs kills templates.

Regarding the upgrade sales issues, just call Adobe Customer Service.

As for installing 6.5.1, it’ll give you an error if your AE install isn’t in the default directory. Try moving the AE install there, then install the update, then move AE back to where it was.
