Exactly….Updates are rarely known prior to when they are
actually released.
Yes, 8.1 has many flaws right now, but don’t worry, in no time the
updates will be forthcoming to smooth things out as 64 bit
editing becomes more streamlined and when third party companies
start making their plugins available for the 64 bit architecture.

I have similar experience using footage exported from after
effects or autodesk combustion when imported in the vegas timeline.

To be honest i find no concrete solution for this problem except for
a workaround by just reducing the contrast level in vegas on
these imported footages.

So i think it is not a problem with vegas.

I understand and agree with your points perfectly Joe,
Also numerous times find myself feeling nausious from
seeing the usual overused visual effects on television.

Quality Content is lacking much in certain of these areas.
You realize that most of the times, the movies that does
really well in theaters are those that have a strong and
meaningful storyline?

Quality content first, followed by just a sprinkle of
visual effects is what really works…..lol

Probably your computer specs needs upgrading…
(more memory and processing power for CS3)

I personally still uses version 7 for a lot of reasons.

As Rob pointed out…seems definitely that the particular codec
these files used was uninstalled during this process…
actually do you only see a black background when
playing these files in vegas?
