Been having this problem for over a year now. When I try to make anything in AE CS3, whatever I move around in the composition panel is laggy and hitches a lot. However, when I try to make anything in 7.0, I can drag assets around smoothly, as it was intended to be.

I originally thought that the problem lay in that I often use footage encapsulated with the fraps codec, which is a memory hog, and also use keylight a lot, which is also a memory hog. But even when I am making something simple, with no keying, and using only solids generated in AE itself, I have the same problem. Why would performance differ between AE7.0 and CS3 on the same computer?

I’m running XP and have Open GL disabled for both 7.0 and CS3.

    Thanks all.

Probably your computer specs needs upgrading…
(more memory and processing power for CS3)

I personally still uses version 7 for a lot of reasons.

Eh, I’d think so too, if not for the fact that my boss bought me this computer and it was the best Dell for video editing on the market at the time (year ago now).
