  • Save everything (graphics, audio, project files, autosave projects, etc.) except the raw media. If you need to re-edit the project, all you will need to do is recapture your footage. You can delete the render files.

Retail Upgrade and Full Education price are the same. $699. So if it makes you feel any better, you don’t need to pay $1300! Retail Upgrade and Full Educational, are the same product.

Why don’t you upgrade FCP? There are no garuntees that FCP 3 will work with Tiger.
Whenever you do a new Operating System install, it is advised to do a complete reinstall. You will have less problems in the long run.

A Time Base Corrector could be helpful. You can try using different VCR’s. I will guaruntee that each VCR will yield different results.

April 24, 2005 at 7:18 pm in reply to: FCP 5: Can you monitor NTSC while editing HDV?

You do not need the Kona or Blackmagic card to display your work. You can output the component signal from your HDV camera to a component monitor. You can also downconvert the HDV to DV or you can output just DV via firewire.

The Kona and Blackmagic HD cards will give you the highest quality output. Both for viewing and video output.

Personally, if I was shooting and editing HDV or DVCProHD, I would choose the Kona HD card.
